Prof. Dr. Senad Kazić
1. Curriculum vitae
Senad Kazić was born in Zenica on 11 May 1965; he completed his primary and secondary education in Zenica, and graduate from the Academy of Music in Sarajevo, Department of Music Theory and Pedagogy, in 1988. He completed the postgraduate studies at Academy of Music in Sarajevo in 2001, having defended his master’s thesis in the area of eartraining (Treatment and interpolation of creative forms in solfeggio, mentored by dr. Vinko Krajtmajer), which was the first master’s thesis in this area in BiH. At the same academy and with the same mentor, he defended his doctoral dissertation (Musical improvisation in education process) in 2007 and was thus granted the Ph.D. degree. In 2002 and 2003, he went for short study visits to the Royal College of Music, Stockholm. In 2012, he completed a training program and acquired the Certificate: Quality assurance and management in higher-education institutions by School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo.
2. Teaching activity / employment
In 1985, he began to work part time at the Primary School of Music in Zenica, and in 1988 he got a full-time job at the Secondary School of Music in Zenica. From 2001, he worked at the Secondary School of Music in Novi Travnik. Since the 2000/2001 academic year he has been working at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo, as a teacher in the Solfeggio course. In 2002, Senad Kazić was appointed a full-time senior teaching assistant in the course Solfeggio at Academy of Music in Sarajevo. In 2008, he was appointed an assistant professor and in 2013, an associate professor in courses Solfeggio and Solfeggio teaching methods. From 2008, he was Vice-Dean of teaching affairs, research and publishing, and since 1 June 2016. he has been serving as the Dean of Academy of Music in Sarajevo.
3. Research and professional activity
Senad Kazić is an active member and one of the founders of Musicological Society the FBiH (1997). In 2003 he was appointed the secretary and in 2005, the president of Society, and has thus been involved in all the projects of the Society, particularly as the chairperson of the organization committee of international musicological symposia „Music in Society“ for this period. Since 2014, he has served as the co-president of Society.
Another part of Senad Kazić’s scientific involvement is his teaching at the Department of Music Theory and Pedagogy, his activity within Institute of Musicology and Center of Music Education of Academy of Music in Sarajevo.
He has so far participated at 19 international symposia and forums, and three local scientific meetings. He has published a book and a monograph, several publications, and 26 scientific papers of different categories, most of which are indexed in databases, as well as a number of essays, reviews, critiques, etc. He is a member of ITCM National Committee of BiH. He is also a member of the presidency of Society for promoting functional music pedagogy (Croatia), as well as a member of program/scientific boards of international musicological symposia „Music in Society“ in Sarajevo, international scientific symposia of music pedagogues in Croatia, Scientific and artistic symposium in Novi Sad, and journal Muzika.
He has so far delivered approximately 70 visiting lectures, workshops and seminars in BiH, Croatia, Serbia as well as in other countries; among others, lectures and workshops at Faculty of Music Art
in Belgrade, music academies in Zagreb and Pula, and Art Academy in Banja Luka. He is the author
of four textbooks for Musical Culture for primary schools.
