New activities and new management of the Musicological Society FBiH

At the annual meeting of the Musicological Society of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was also electoral after four years, besides adopting the annual reports, the new management of the Society was also elected.

In the next four-year term, the President of the Society will be Dr. Amila Ramović, assistant professor at the Department of Music Theory and Pedagogy of the Academy of Music and at the Academy of Performing Arts of the University of Sarajevo and the Vice President will be Dr. Ivan Čavlović. the emeritus professor of the University of Sarajevo and the founder and the first president of the Musicological Society of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina back in 1997.

Members of the Board, next to the new President of the Assembly Prof. Dr. Senad Kazić, Dean of the Academy of Music of the University of Sarajevo, will be Prof. Dr. Merima Čaušević from the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Sarajevo, Maja Baralić-Materne, MSc, ethnomusicologist and music editor at the BH Radio 1, Dr. Lana Paćuka, assistant professor at the Department of Musicology and Ethnomusicology of the Academy of Music in Sarajevo and editor of Society’s academic journal Music and Nerma Mulabegović-Hodžić, MSc, senior teaching assistant at the Department of Music Theory and Pedagogy of the Academy of Music in Sarajevo. In the forthcoming mandate, the work of the Society will be controlled by the Supervisory Council, including Dr. Jasmina Talam, Chairwoman, professor at the Department of Musicology and Ethnomusicology at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo, Dr. Amra Bosnić, assistant professor at the Department of Music Theory and Pedagogy of the Academy of Music in Sarajevo, and Alma Ferović-Fazlić, MA, associate at the Academy of Performing Arts of the University of Sarajevo and a musical theatre producer. Dr. Refik Hodžić, professor at the Department of Music Theory and Pedagogy of the Sarajevo Academy of Music, Dr. Tamara Karača-Beljak, professor at the Department of Musicology and Ethnomusicology in Sarajevo, and composer and double-bassist Živko Ključe will be the members of the Council of Honor. The secretary of the Society will be elected at the constituent session of the new Board.

Members who gained new positions take over from the previous management lead by the President Dr. Fatima Hadžić, along with the Boards Members – Vice President dr. Senad Kazić, Assembly President Branka Vidović, Secretary Esma Sulejmanagić, MSc, MA, Boško Jović, MA, Dr. Lana Paćuka, Dr. Amila Ramović and Dr. Jasmina Talam, along with the members of the Supervisory Council – Mirela Šečić,  MSc, Dr. Merima Čaušević i Maja Baralić-Materne, MSc, and the members of the Council of Honour, Dr. Ivan Čavlović, Dr. Refik Hodžić i Dr. Miradet Zulić.

As confirmed by the Assembly, the Musicological Society of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue its dedication to the achievement of its goals: to encourage the development of musicology, to promote research of musical heritage, of traditional and contemporary music, to act on affirmation of artistic music and musicology, and to work on development of various aspects of musical culture in BiH. The new President, Dr. Ramović, pointed out that in the next mandate, the Society would endeavor to maintain the continuity of its successful twenty years of activity through the continuity of the organization of the International Symposium “Music in Society”, the publication of Society’s academic journal “Music”, publication of books, as well as the organization of concerts of artistic and traditional music. In addition to that, the Society will also dedicate its energies to new activities on the studying of the place, role, character and perspectives of music in modern Bosnian society and strengthening related public discourse and its critical aspects.
